Benefits of Presenting at BLR Conferences

We offer many benefits to our conference speakers, including the opportunity to share experiences, network with peers, and interact with audiences in a relatively intimate setting.

Before the event, we also provide speakers with an opportunity to discuss their areas of expertise in BLR articles, podcasts, and webinars.

We promote our speakers on our website and in our email, social media, and other marketing efforts, which reach thousands of professional across the target markets.

Each conference speaker receives:

  • a complimentary, full conference pass;
  • customizable marketing collateral; and
  • a 20% discount to share with clients.

 

Submission Requirements:

Complete the conference speaker questionnaire* found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BLR-speaker-survey.

Be sure to provide:

  • a succinct and clear summary of what you intend to present;
  • the learning objectives of your talk;
  • the anticipated length of your discussion;
  • why the issue is important;
  • a list of your credentials and experience;
  • a link to your website(s); and
  • contact information for 2 or more professional references who can attest to your speaking ability/presentation skills.

 

Submission Deadline:

We have a rolling submission process. While we do not have a firm deadline by which you must submit your proposal(s), we recommend that you submit your information as soon as possible to ensure consideration for the event(s) for which you have expressed interest. Generally, speakers are confirmed for our events at least six to nine months in advance. If the requested event is filled, we will consider your submission for future planning.

 

What to Expect if Selected to Present:

When you agree to present, you will be expected to participate in at least one preconference call with BLR staff and, if applicable, fellow session speakers.

We offer many opportunities to introduce you to your target audience ahead of the event. For instance, and pending space on BLR’s editorial calendar, you may opt to:

  • write cross-promotional content (e.g., bylined articles/Q&A, quizzes) published to reach thousands of BLR subscribers;
  • be interviewed for a podcast (BLR currently hosts HR Works and EHS on Tap); and/or
  • deliver a webinar.

You will need to supply a PowerPoint deck by specified deadlines on the supplied conference template. We also encourage you to provide additional materials to enhance the audience’s learning experience, e.g., workbooks, fact sheets, checklists, etc.

You will be expected to provide a professional quality presentation, delivered within the allotted time on the agreed upon topic that is free from overt “selling” and addresses all of the agreed upon learning objectives. BLR reserves the right to request additional revisions to meet editorial standards as needed.

Our sponsors and exhibitors are a valuable part of our events, and we are pleased to include a sponsor or exhibitor representative as a speaker.  All accepted presentations are based on the merit of the proposal, the individual speaker, the relevance of the topic, and the availability of a speaking slot. It is imperative that presentations do not include overt sales pitches.
